From Flowers to Birds. Bringing the Neighborhood Together

Klaproos, Eijsden, Juli 2026

For Nieuw Poelveld, Petra transformed two existing utility cabinets into colorful works of art. What were once purely functional objects now tell a story about the neighborhood and its character. The larger Enexis cabinet is inspired by the four seasons. Each side represents a different season, with flowers, plants and birds appearing as recurring elements. The top of the cabinet will feature a starry night sky.

The smaller KPN cabinet is based on the theme Indian Summer, a warm and colorful celebration of the atmosphere of late summer, where flowers and birds once again play an important role.
With these paintings, Petra deliberately created a connection between the Flower Neighborhood and the Bird Neighborhood within Nieuw Poelveld.
Flowers and birds appear throughout the designs, bringing the two parts of the neighborhood together both visually and symbolically.

In this way, two everyday utility cabinets have been transformed into colorful landmarks, art that becomes part of the streetscape and part of the place people call home.
